Tuzhong Class Salvage Tug

Tuzhong Class

This indigenous tug was built by the Shanghai-based Zhonghua Shipyard (now Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard) in the late 1970s for the PLA Navy. It is designated by NATO as the Tuzhong class. The vessel is a large, well-equipped ocean salvage tug. The first-of-class T154 took part in naval task force to the South Pacific to recover the re-entry vehicle of PRC’s first full-range DF-5 ICBM flight test (“Mission 580”).
