Type 946A (Dadong Class) Offshore Submarine Rescue Ship

TIn September 1978, the PLA Navy issued its requirement for an improved Type 946 (NATO codename: Dadong class) offshore submarine rescue ship. The construction task was assigned to the Shanghai-based Hudong Shipyard (now Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard). The first and only hull J304 was commissioned in December 1982.
